Executive Council & Committees
ATOM is led by a six-member executive council that is elected by the membership. In addition, there are a number of sub-committees and cabinets addressing specific issues such as: Public Relations, Government Affairs, and Reimbursement, to name just a few.
ATOM is the voice of it's membership providing a means for all athletic trainers in Massachusetts to address issues as one unified group of professionals. ATOM is working for all athletic trainers in Massachusetts to lead the profession into the future.

Associate Head Athletic Trainer Jennifer Brodeur is in her sixth year at the University of Massachusetts, and fifth serving as the head athletic trainer for the football team. She is one of only a handful for women serving as head athletic trainers for major college football programs.
During her time at UMass, Brodeur has also worked with the men's lacrosse and men's and women's swimming & diving programs. She also oversees the Athletic Training Department's undergraduate internship program.
Brodeur joined the UMass staff in 2006 after serving as head athletic trainer for the Connecticut Sun of the WNBA. Prior to the Sun, she worked at Providence College as an assistant athletic trainer from 2001-06. Brodeur came to Providence from Fordham University, where she worked from 1998-2001.
Brodeur has a bachelor's degree from Ohio University and a master's degree in Exercise Science and Sports Administration from Austin Peay State University.
Brodeur is currently serving as President of the Athletic Trainers of Massachusetts and in 2009 received the Athletic Training Service Award bestowed by the National Athletic Trainer's Association, recognizing contributions to the athletic training profession on the state and national levels

Jeff Smith is in his 11th year as associate athletic director for sports medicine at UMass. In addition to his administrative responsibilities, including overseeing medical coverage, treatment and rehabilitation of over 600 student-athletes, Smith serves as the day-to-day athletic trainer for the ice hockey team.
In 2005, Smith added the responsibilities as a sport administrator as he oversees the track & field and rowing programs at UMass.
Smith came to UMass from the University of California at Los Angeles, where he worked for three years. Smith spent his first year at UCLA as an assistant athletic trainer, before being promoted to associate athletic trainer in 1999. During his last two seasons, he served as the athletic trainer for the football and men's and women's track teams, in addition to being the director of UCLA's student athletic trainer internship program. During his first year with the Bruins, Smith was the athletic trainer for the men's basketball, men's water polo and men's tennis teams.
Prior to his time at UCLA, Smith spent five seasons at the University of Denver, including four years as director of sports medicine and head athletic trainer. He oversaw the rehabilitation and welfare of athletes in all 18 of Denver's varsity sports, while working directly with the ice hockey team.
Smith previously worked at UMass from 1991-1993, serving as a graduate assistant athletic trainer. He worked with the men's soccer and baseball teams, while also serving as a teaching assistant in the Department of Exercise Science.
A 1991 graduate of UCLA with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology, Smith earned his master's degree in exercise science from UMass in 1993. He is married to Justine and has three sons, Brendan, Ryan, and Jake.

Cheryl Blauth is entering her fifth year as assistant athletic trainer at Northeastern. She has served as the primary coordinator of care for the women’s hockey team since 2006 and has been the WVUATAA chairperson since July 2008.
Prior to her employment at Northeastern, Blauth was an athletic training fellow at the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, N.Y., where she worked with bobsled, luge, skeleton, free style skiing, judo, sled hockey, and the U.S. Women’s Ice Hockey National Team.
From 2003-2005 Blauth was a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Hamline University in St. Paul, Minn. While at Hamline, she earned her Master's degree in Management and also gained experience working with the men’s and women’s soccer and hockey teams. In 2003, she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training at West Virginia University. As an undergraduate athletic training student she worked football, volleyball, swimming & diving, club ice hockey and soccer.
Blauth is an active volunteer with the USOC and in November 2009 worked with the U.S. figure skating team at the Skate America Event in Lake Placid, N.Y.

Scott Gallon is in his seventh year on the athletic training staff at the College of the Holy Cross in 2011-2012, and his second year as associate athletic trainer. He works on a day-to-day basis as an athletic trainer for the Crusader football, men's basketball and baseball teams, in addition to providing support for a number of other varsity sports.
From 2002-2005, Gallon spent three years as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at the University of Massachusetts, where he worked on a daily basis with the field hockey, swimming and baseball squads. Gallon also coordinated medical coverage for field hockey at both the 2003 NCAA Championship and 2004 Atlantic 10 Championship. He previously spent time as an intern athletic trainer at Holy Cross from Feb.-Aug. 2002, in addition to working as an intern with the New England Patriots, Sarasota Red Sox and Springfield Falcons, and with the Cape Cod Baseball League.
A certified and licensed member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association, Gallon received his bachelor's degree in athletic training from Springfield College in 2000, and his master's degree in exercise science from Massachusetts in 2005
