Massachusetts- Throughout the state, fall sports begin and with that comes a great concern for all athletes performing in high temperatures. ATOM would like to remind coaches and parents about the signs and symptoms athletes may have when experiencing heat illness.
There are several types of heat illness, but athletes are specifically at risk of exertional heat stroke, which is caused by intense exercise in the heat.
The Athletic Trainers of Massachusetts (NATA) in conjuction with the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) has put together the following information pages and infographics for coaches and parents to follow.
Be smart. Stay hydrated. And make sure your school has a licensed Athletic Trainer on staff.
